Privacy Policy

The short version: Scripture & Stone collects no personal information of any kind. There is no account, no sign-in, no analytics, and no tracking. Nothing you do in the app is sent to me.
What the app stores
Version 1.1 saves the following locally on your device:
- Whether you prefer the standard map or satellite imagery.
- Whether you have set the appearance to Light, Dark, or System.
- Your saved places and guided exploration progress.
The app does not send these preferences, saved places, or progress to me or sync them between devices. Deleting the app removes this local data.
What the app does not collect
- No name, email address, phone number, or any other contact information.
- No location data. The maps show biblical sites; the app never asks for or accesses where you are.
- No usage analytics, no crash reporting, no advertising identifiers.
- No cookies, and no third-party tracking software of any kind.
Network requests
Journey locations, scripture references, and research text are bundled inside the app. Map imagery, photographs, external links, and App Store purchases need a connection.
The app connects to these services when you use the related features:
- Map tiles are drawn by Apple Maps, which is part of iOS. Apple's handling of those requests is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.
- Archaeological photographs are loaded from Wikimedia Commons and other public sources. Your device requests those images directly from those sites. I do not operate those servers, receive those requests, or log them.
- Research links open external websites. Those sites handle your visit under their own privacy policies.
Sharing
If you choose to share a passage, location note, or study map, the content goes to the app or recipient you select using the system share sheet. Sharing is optional.
Purchases
The one-time purchase that unlocks the remaining maps is handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. I never see your payment details. I receive only anonymous, aggregated sales figures from Apple — the number of copies sold, not who bought them.
Restoring a previous purchase asks Apple to confirm your existing entitlement. That exchange is between your device and Apple.
Children
The app is suitable for all ages and collects no information from anyone, including children under 13.
Changes to this policy
If the app ever changes in a way that affects this policy, this page will be updated and the date at the top revised. Given the app's design, I do not anticipate collecting data in future versions.
