I bought the maps but they’re still locked

Open Help & About using the ? button, then choose Restore Purchases. You can also restore from the unlock screen. Connect to the internet and check that Media & Purchases uses the Apple Account that made the purchase.

If the maps are unlocked on iPhone but locked on iPad, restore on the iPad. If that doesn’t help, email me with your device and app version, plus any error message. Please don’t send passwords or payment details.

Do I need to buy the maps again on another device?

No. The All Maps unlock is a one-time purchase associated with your Apple Account. Use Restore Purchases on your other iPhone or iPad. Family Sharing is enabled for the purchase.

What is free, and what does the purchase unlock?

The Life & Ministry of Jesus and The Exodus maps are free. The Holy Week and Sea of Galilee guided explorations are free too.

The All Maps purchase unlocks the remaining eight maps, the Seven Churches guided exploration, and future map additions. It costs US $4.99; your local price is shown in the app. There is no subscription.

Tapping a locked map or the Seven Churches exploration opens the unlock screen. You choose whether to purchase there.

Can I use it on iPad?

Version 1.1 includes a dedicated iPad layout with the map and reading pane side by side. On iPhone, choose Map, Split, or Read to change the layout.

How do I change Light or Dark mode?

Open Help & About with the ? button. Under Appearance, choose Light, Dark, or System to follow your device setting.

How does passage lookup work?

Enter a Bible reference, such as John 4, to find places connected to the app’s selected passages. This is a curated collection, not a complete Bible index. A passage with no result may simply not be included. You can also search place names, events, scripture text, and research topics.

Do saved places and progress sync between devices?

Saved places, guided exploration progress, and preferences are stored locally on each device. They do not sync between your iPhone and iPad. Deleting the app removes this local data; it does not cancel your All Maps purchase.

Does it work offline?

Journey locations, scripture references, and research text are bundled with the app. Apple Maps imagery, archaeological photographs, external research links, and purchasing or restoring an unlock require an internet connection.

What’s the difference between Map and Satellite?

Map shows modern roads, borders, and place names. Satellite shows the landscape from above. Your choice is remembered.

Are the routes and historical borders exact?

No. Dotted routes connect stops in story order; they are not exact ancient roads. Historical overlays and site locations are approximate and are intended as study aids.

A research link is broken

External sources occasionally move or disappear. Email me the location name and research card so I can check the link.

I think something is historically or biblically wrong

Please tell me. Every location has been checked against the text and against published excavation reports, but this is a lot of material and I would rather correct an error than defend it. Point me at the location and what you think is off, and I'll look into it properly.

Where do the images come from?

Archaeological photographs come from Wikimedia Commons and other public sources. Every research card links to where its material came from, so you can read further or check the original.
